It's important to consider the potential impact on our environment when designing a new home or developing your property.

With the rising cost of energy due to our use of natural resources like water, power and gas - it has never been more important to find ways to reduce our reliance on these vital resources.

Energy Efficiency - by simply considering where north is and where the sun will shine on our homes, we can make a difference to the amount of energy required to heat and cool our homes - which in turn helps our planet.

Solar - the use of alternate energy sources like solar panels or evcuative tubes to generate this energy is becoming more viable for Hot Water and Electricity, with the option to feed excess energy back into the grid, which reduces the ongoing energy costs of a home.

Water - every home has a roof that can be utilised to harvest rainwater, so adding a rainwater tank to your site will allow storage and use of water for sanitary & garden areas, along with washing vehicles etc. If town water is available to the building site, it can still be utilised.

Materials - using products that are manufactured with a neutral carbon footprint is another option you might consider when choosing things like cladding for your home. For example, Weathertex is a form of cladding made from hardwood offcuts when re-growth forests are being harvested - this a great way to build with less harmful impacts on our environment.
